6880 is a 4-6-0

Taken by Chris Moore, this picture shows 6880 as never seen before with the re-furbished bogie underneath the frames for the first time. We added the splashers, nameplate and cabside numberplate too to present a nice photo that has been published in Steam Railway this month

Help Celebrate 10 years of the 6880 Society

3rd June 2013 marks 10 years since 6880 became a legal company in the form of 6880 Betton Grange Society. To mark this event, for the 5 days leading upto this landmark we are asking for her supporters to help buy 6880 a Birthday present.

We are currently in the process of ordering 12 rocking washers and pads for the Spring Hanger Brackets, which will cost the society around £400. The attached picture shows these parts set up on Llangollen stablemate 7822 Foxcote Manor. We are therefore looking for at least 40 supporters to make a £10 donation to mark our 10th anniversary.

If you would like to support this Birthday appeal, please text “MAKE16 £10” to 70070. Smaller amounts of £2 and/or £5 can also be accepted this way if you wish to contribute a lesser amount. If you wish to contribute more than £10 you will need to send multiple texts equating to your preferred amount. Please make sure you have permission from the bill payer before sending any texts.

We hope you join us in celebrating 6880’s Birthday, and will support us with our latest appeal. For further information about 6880 please see our website or visit our Facebook Page.

1960’s Weekend

Betton Grange volunteers turned out in force to run a Sales Stand at the Llangollen Railway’s 1960s Gala Weekend. A big effort was made to sell Raffle Tickets and £300s worth were sold over the 2 days. SSS3 DVDs and the Llangollen Railway 2011 DVD filmed by David Huntbatch were selling well, helped by having two televisions running at each end of the Stand. Present were Mark Jones, Mick Prior, Jeff Jones, John Sandiford, Liz Curtis, Jon Kerr, Haydn Roberts, Dave and Amanda Gill, Geoff Griffiths and Quentin McGuinness.
