First Tubes in Boiler

This week engineers at Tyseley fitted most of the small tubes to the boiler, cutting them to length and sliding them in. The large tubes will follow.
Brake Rigging & Cylinder Cocks
Published 18 June 2019 | Our team checked over the fully fitted brake rigging which is now nearing completion and also fitted the cylinder drain cocks and mechanism.
With the locomotive over the pit we were able to view the completed valve gear, the first picture shows the weigh shaft and expansion link looking forward and the second photo the reverse view showing the sheaves mounted on the middle axle.
More work at Tyseley
Published 7 June 2019 | Last weekend at Tyseley work continued fitting the cylinder lagging and completing the brake rodding. Meanwhile the boiler has been passed by the inspector to have the tubes fitted.

The Betton Grange Team
Betton Grange moves to Tyseley
Published 29 June 2018 | On the 25th June the locomotive was transported to Tyseley in readiness for the boiler to be fitted. This should take place during the summer. Once complete the movement back to Llangollen will be start of the work needed to finish the locomotive.
Yes we are getting very close to finishing the job. Right now we’re seeking sponsors for the Superheater elements, twenty one of each are needed to finish the boiler. See our shop page here.

New Work at Llangollen

meanwhile with the locomotive positioned over the pit at Llangollen, we were able to take these unusual pictures of the locomotive from beneath.

6880 Goes to the Warley Show
Published 29 November 2016 | last week 6880 left Llangollen for the first time being loaded for transport to the NEC in Birmingham on Thursday 24th November.
Once at the NEC the locomotive was fitted with its copper cap to the chimney, the brass safety valve bonnet and the whistles. A Grange 80 headboard and Express lamps were fitted too
6880 is back on its Wheels
Published 7 September 2016 | re-wheeled yesterday 6th September. We can now build the locomotive up for show at the NEC’s Warley Show 26-27th November.
A Morgan from Germany
Published 6 September 2016 | In June we were delighted to welcome 2 visitors Rüdiger Gaydoul and Christoph Wachendorf, when we had a chance to show them round 6880 Betton Grange. We are delighted that Rüdiger has bought as a gift for his friend Christoph Wachendorf for his 60th Birthday sponsoring the Smoke box Feed Lubricating casting.
