The 3 wheelsets for 6880 have now been re-tyred at the South Devon Railway’s Buckfastleigh workshops. On 10th May 2012 the wheelsets sit waiting for movement to Llangollen after the tyres were fitted and profiled. Tthe cranks have also been quartered. The balance weights will need to be adjusted after the wheels return to Llangollen to bring them into line for use under a ‘Grange’ Class locomotive.
It is expected that the VAB will inspect the work before transport to Llangollen shortly.
The following departure times from Llangollen apply as shown below.

More than 40 members attended the AGM held at the Hand Hotel Llangollen on Saturday 28th January.
Members endorsed the progress made with plans for SSS3 and the general work done in the construction of No. 6880.
Afterwards a photograph was taken by David Wilcocks showing members in front of the locomotive for a local prestige glossy magazine publicising our project to a wider audience.
Our new SSS3 designer T shirt is now available for purchase.
